I have found this 2003 75 1.8 Turbo for sale near me.

http://www2.autotrader.co.uk/classified ... ?logcode=p

Surely considering that its only got 55k on the clock and the fact its had its belt and head gasket done at 35k - it must be too good to break!?!? It also has an MOT and Tax! I suppose its down to what's stopping the engine from turning though.

Does anyone know the car? AX03 CCU.

At £495 it could be a tempting project???

It could be something as simple as a cam sensor...like our VWV rescue car... :-D Very much worth a look and a discussion on here..any members who buy one to rescue and put back on the road will have our full support! :-)

Could be the orange clip, which is a pretty easy fix. Worth a look really!

Well, I have spoken to the dealer who is selling the car. According to him, the car came in as a part-ex a couple of days ago - and was running fine. He says that one of his staff was running the car - and it suddenly broke down 2 days ago. The staff member said that the car was running just fine, but then a lot of smoke came out - and the car stopped. Interestingly, he wasn't able to confirm where the smoke came from.
The chap I spoke to has only seen the car when it came in and was running well. He said that its in very fine condition and has a very strong service history. However, he has not seen it since it came in and is not sure if it still turns over.
He also said that he is not really prepared to undertake any work on the car and wants rid of it. I'm sure he is considering breaking it to try and make back his money on it as a part-ex.
I was originally wondering if it might have been a cam sensor or the fabled fuel clip, but the smoke situation does raise an eyebrow. His associate said there was a lot of smoke, so I'm thinking head gasket. However, according to the paperwork, it had a head gasket in 2011. Curious. I suppose the replacement gasket could have failed......?
